Penang Kashmir Restaurant

Kashmir Restaurant @ Penang Road

The authentic North Indian restaurant has been operating at the basement of Oriental Hotel at Penang Road (opposite the famous Odeon cinema during the 80s) since 1984!

Today they still run the business there with addition of the ground floor. Business is still good with the local and foreign tourists. The location is perfectly situated at the center of Georgetown in between the junction of Upper Penang Road, Chulia Street and Leith Street.

The foods served are fantastic and very authentic. To start off with your meal, some samosa and  vegatables pakora are perfect with the dipping sauces of mint and tamarind.

The Tandoori Chicken is a must try as they were tenderly prepared and very juicy. The chicken drumsticks are Tandoor-ly oven-grilled to perfection with little burned marks yet fiercefully red colored with all spices. Top with some fresh onion and lime, they are very deliciously tempting and miuth watering!

There are many variety of curries to choose from with chicken, fish, mutton or vegetables, which goes well with the various types of Naans from the plain to garlic. The Prawns Masala are fresh and the Muttons Dopiaza are so tender and soft. The Dhal Palak, a mixture of lentils, spinach, beancurd and other ingredient, is tasteful and non spicy.

Their yogurt drinks, Lassi, will go well with all the heaty and spicy curry.

Price wise, it could be the most expensive in Penang among the indian cuisines. I would consider it as the finest dining of the North Indian cuisine in Penang.
