越味小吃館 @ Transfer Road
New found Vietnamese food in Penang! There has been such a long absence of a properly taste Vietnamese restaurant in Penang. Finding this small eatery today is such a delightful thing.
By the way, the owner Ah Hong and his Vietnamese wife has been doing Vietnamese food delivery to many entertainment outlets in Penang for few years. And finally decided to open up this eatery right opposite the Penang Police Headquarter.
The foods are great, even though the outlet is just a simple one. They supply some dry food and ingredients import ed from Vietnam including some bottled chilli sauce and instant noodles.
The Pho here is nice, although I would prefer some stronger taste of beef broth. Fried spring rolls are a bit different where his are with yam and meat. The Fresh rolls are just superb however dipping with not the peanut sauce but the fish sauce mixed with own blended chilli paste! Perfect!
The other 2 dishes where I tried are the fried cockles with chilli and deep fried lard. And the other is the Fried Balitong with Basil Leafs in coconut sauce.
They also serve other Vietnamese noodles, Pork Rice etc. Will have to come back again for the rest of the dishes.
Of course, you should not forget about the rich and milky Vietnamese Ice coffee!!

Their main business is actually supplying to night entertainment outlets in Penang. I am sorry if number given is wrong. You may pass by the place and check out. It is opposite the main police station.

Went for a round and its closed. And phone line never get thru. I guess they have ceased operation.
