Penang 老夫子 Bah Kut Teh

老夫子肉骨茶 @ Jalan Dato Keramat

This has been our favorite place for BKT after late night! During the younger days, we have been patronizing this particular store after party, as I guess it is the only BKT at the wee hours in Penang.

I admit it is not a fantastic BKT in town but acceptable in taste. I especially like the Pig Brain, Kidney and Liver where it serves in separate bowls. As for the rest of the ribs, belly, meat balls etc are all served in a big bowl. Their Fritters are crunchy even their operating hours are night time. The other thing I like about is their Yam Rice.

Other side dishes are the Salted Vege (Chai Boey) and Chicken Feets.

Add: Junction of Jalan Dato Keramat and Jalan Tramway (before the Dato Keramat Wet Market)

A Day in Kelantan

Kelantan, a state with majority of Muslim, offering lots of local eatery where you will enjoy. On a business trip recently, I have tasted not many but quite some fruitful meals only originally from the people of Kelantan.

Firstly, we patronised the famous Ah Biu Bah Kut Teh. Surprising the Chinese here can prepare a great pot of BKT. It is according the best BKT in Kota Baru. The other stall selling Hokkien Char is delicious too, which is kind of differnet to me with their own style. Served in bowl with more gravy compared to the Penang style.

Then we had the popular Nasi Dagang of Kelantan. Served in brown paper with selected curry with chicken onto the hotly steam rice.

We had our lunch at the popular Restoran Hiang Kang. A shop which you would better make reservation or you may not get a table. Their Braised Duck, Stewed Egg, Fried Oyster, Fried Seafood Glass noodle, and other chu char like steamed fish, Pork Soup are fantastic.
